Nikki Glaser has spoken out about the ten jokes that she removed from her monologue at the Golden Globes because she felt they were “too mean.”

For her first time presenting the awards event, the stand-up comedian, who is forty years old, has received a great deal of praise from the audience.

Glaser made an appearance on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show on the morning of January 6, the day after the ceremony, to talk about her performance.

After getting some criticism on social media for a joke she made about Diddy, Glaser disclosed that she had removed a second reference to Diddy from her post. She said, “This is the last time all of you will be in the same room together until the Diddy trial gets underway.”

In her explanation, the comic stated that she believed the joke she kept to herself about Diddy was more effective, and that she also believed it would be perilous to accuse “people in the room of being involved in that… they might turn on you at any moment.”

An further funny cut was made concerning the thriller Conclave, which was about the Vatican: “It’s about the selecting of a new pope. It was a warming experience. Because it will have such a profound effect on you, the church will have to relocate it to a different theater. To get into the Conclave after party, you do not need to present any kind of identification.

“We don’t need more” jokes about the Catholic Church and pedophiles, according to Glaser’s interpretation of the situation.

Glaser would have continued her allusion to Adrien Brody as a “two-time Holocaust survivor” by stating, “If Adrien Brody could go back in time, he would thank baby Hitler for his career.” This would have been the third joke that would have been removed from the monologue.

In response to her “Gen Z” assistant’s explanation that she did not understand the joke, Glaser stated that she erased it. Perhaps this was because the joke made a reference to time travelers who were attempting to murder infant Hitler.

There was a fourth joke eliminated that made reference to some of the most powerful people in Hollywood: “Only Murders in the Building is amazing.” To idea that luminaries like as Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Meryl Streep are still working is something that I find to be quite cool. This only demonstrates that you are never too elderly to still be in need of financial assistance. Are you still putting in such a lot of effort? Does anyone know what’s going on, and did you become involved in the Hawk Tuah cryptocurrency scheme?

There was a fifth joke that would have made a reference to the suspected killer Luigi Mangione; however, Glaser decided to remove it because he believed that the subject had become less prominent in the news: “Glen Powell is nominated tonight for Hit Man.” Who could have imagined that you would hold the position of the second-hottest hit guy in the United States?

Glaser also removed a reference to the popular podcast Armchair Expert, which is hosted by Dax Shepard. He stated, “The only show where you can see the biggest stars in movies and television join together with a common goal: Getting out here tonight before Dax Shepard asks them to do his podcast.”

Nikki Glaser and Nicole Kidman at the 2025 Golden Globes

The line “The Wild Robot is nominated tonight — and by that I mean Nicole Kidman after two white wines” was removed from the set by Glaser because she was concerned that it was too cruel. An explanation was provided by Glaser, who stated, “I wish we could have done it, but if she makes a face…

A filthy joke about Nicole Kidman’s Babygirl was kept in the set, but Glaser removed another joke that she worried was too cruel. The joke that she removed went as follows: “The Wild Robot is nominated tonight — and by that I mean Nicole Kidman after two different white wines.” An explanation was provided by Glaser, who stated, “I wish we could have done it, but if she makes a face…

Despite the fact that Glaser made a joke about Timothée Chalamet’s vocal performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown sounding appropriately “horrible,” he edited a version that was considerably more punchy: “Timothée Chalamet took lessons in guitar, dialect, movement, and vocals to become Bob Dylan.” In spite of the fact that Bob Dylan became Bob Dylan through the traditional means of drugs and autism.

This is the eighth joke. The following line from Glaser’s monologue, which would have made a reference to the passing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, was removed because it was deemed to be too dark: “Michael Keaton was so great in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” The unfortunate reality is that Alec Baldwin did not return to the role of a ghost because he was too busy producing other things.

Glaser elaborated on that joke by saying, “I want you to know that I am aware that it was not a nice joke.” Despite the fact that it is a hilarious joke, it is simply too cruel.

Ben Affleck’s previous marriages to Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner would have been the subject of a tenth joke that was eliminated from consideration. Glaser would have made a joke on Ben Affleck, saying, “Here’s Ben Affleck. When you try to destroy the next Jennifer, I can’t wait to see which one you choose.

In a different part of her discussion with Stern, Glaser disclosed that she had been paid less for the position than a male presenter of the show that she had previously hosted.
