Amy Poehler
Amy Meredith Poehler was born in Newton, Massachusetts, to parents Eileen Frances (Milmore) Poehler, who taught high school, and William Grinstead Poehler, who also taught high school. It is the comedian Greg Poehler who is her brother. via her mother, she inherited Irish ancestry, and via her father, she inherited English, Irish, German, and Portuguese ancestry (her father). When Amy was a student at Boston College, she became a member of the group My Mother’s Flea Bag, which was her first experience with sketch comedy. She moved to Chicago in 1993 and attended Second City and Improv Olympics, both of which she attended for class. Del Close, who would eventually become the voice of the opening scene of the UCB, was the person she met there. Her membership with the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, which also included Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh, began in the year 1996. After some time, the ensemble relocated to New York and eventually established a program on Comedy Central. In total, the show was only on the air for three seasons. At the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater, however, the gang remained united for the whole event. At the present day, the theater is recognized as one of the most prominent spots for improv and sketch shows.

In 1995, she became a member of the improvisational comedy ensemble known as Upright Citizens Brigade. In the year 1996, the trio relocated to New York City, and in the year 1998, their performance was transformed into a sketch comedy series that aired on Comedy Central for six minutes. Poehler is one of the individuals who conceived up and established the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, along with other members of the comedic company.
The year 2001 saw Poehler’s debut as a cast member on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL), which is broadcast on NBC. Over the course of four years, from 2004 to 2008, she was a co-anchor for the news parody section known as Weekend Update on the show. Halfway through the eighth season of Saturday Night Live, Poehler decided to leave the show in order to take on the role of Leslie Knope in the comedy Parks and Recreation, which she created and starred in until 2015.
