Pierre Coffin
It was Pierre-Louis Padang. Coffin is a French animator, voice actor, director, producer, and writer. He is most known for his work as a co-director on four films in the Despicable Me franchise and for providing the voice of the Minions, which earned him the Kids Family Award at the 10th Seiyu Awards. The French diplomat Yves Coffin and the Indonesian author Nh. Dini welcomed their son Coffin into the world in 1967. Coffin was born in France. A sister named Marie-Claire is his sibling. They traveled about quite a bit around Asia during his childhood, spending time in Cambodia and Japan, before finally settling down in a suburb of Paris at the beginning of the 1970s. Throughout their childhood, their father prevented them from watching television because he believed it to be too passive. Instead, Coffin spent a lot of time drawing, reading, and listening to music. Despite the fact that he had never given any thought to pursuing a profession in the arts, he was motivated to enhance his sketching talents by a group of brilliant friends who were more skilled than he was.
Beginning in 1985 and continuing until 1988, he attended the Paris-Sorbonne University to study film. He resigned from his military duty in order to take the admission exam for the Gobelins animation school in Paris. He did this while he was still serving his country. During the years 1990 to 1993, he attended the institution and took the 2D course. Following that, he relocated to Amblin, a facility situated in London that specializes in 2D animation. There, he worked as a junior animator for a period of one year on the We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story project, which was produced by Steven Spielberg. After that, he began his career as a freelance animator at the French computer-generated imagery business Ex Machina, where he initially worked as an animator and subsequently became an animation supervisor. At the beginning of his career as a filmmaker, Pierre Coffin directed a short film titled Pings in the year 1997. In the following years, he began working with other people by appearing in commercials with Passion Pictures Paris and Mac Guff. It was for the television series titled “TF1” that he came up with the characters Pat and Stan. Together with Chris Renaud, he finished the computer-generated imagery (CGI) animated feature film Despicable Me for Universal in the year 2010.
