Both her performance as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the ABC comedy Modern Family (2009–2020) and her part as Griselda Blanco in the Netflix miniseries Griselda (2024) have brought her a great deal of recognition across the industry. In recognition of both of her performances, she was nominated for five awards at the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards. In addition, the former helped her ascend to the position of being among the highest-paid actresses in the United States.

With her birth and upbringing in Barranquilla, Colombia, Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara was born and nurtured. Her mother, Margarita Vergara Dávila de Vergara, devotes her life to being a homemaker. The cattle that are supplied to the meat business are provided by her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo. She has five siblings in all.
