Steve Carell
After being born Steven John Carell on August 16, 1962 in Concord, Massachusetts, Steve Carell is widely considered to be one of the most versatile comics in the United States. He is the son of Edwin A. Carell, an electrical engineer, and Harriet Theresa (Koch), a mental nurse. He follows in his mother’s footsteps. His father was of Italian and German origin, while his mother was of Polish background. Steve’s grandpa had changed the surname from “Caroselli” to “Carell” in order to honor his grandfather’s heritage. Steve received his education first at Middlesex School in Concord, Massachusetts, and later at The Fenn School, which is a private school in Concord that is exclusively for males. After receiving his degree from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, he relocated to Chicago, where he worked as a teacher of improvisational comedy and performed alongside Stephen Colbert with The Second City ensemble.
In 1996, Carell was a cast member on The Dana Carvey Show, and from 1999 to 2005, he was a reporter on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Both of these assignments brought him a great deal of attention. After that, he went on to feature in a number of comedic films, such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) and its sequel, which was released in 2013, as well as The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Evan Almighty (2007), Get Smart (2008), Date Night (2010), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), and The Way, Way Back (2013). Over the Hedge (2006), Horton Hears a Who! (2008), and the Despicable Me trilogy (2010–present) are all examples of films in which he has provided his voice services.
