Betty Kay (Overman), a teacher, and Roy Lee Ferrell, Jr., a musician, were John William Ferrell’s parents. John William Ferrell was born in Irvine, California in the United States. In the beginning, his parents were from Roanoke Rapids, which is located in North Carolina.

In the middle of the 1990s, Ferrell made his debut as a cast member on the sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live. He continued to act on the show from 1995 until 2002. Since then, he has gone on to feature in a number of comedic films. Ferrell became a member of the “Frat Pack” after his performance in the comedy film Old School, which was released in 2003. The “Frat Pack” is a group of leading Hollywood comic actors who emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Other members of the “Frat Pack” include Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Steve Carell, Vince Vaughn, Paul Rudd, and Owen and Luke Wilson, who are brothers. It was in 2007 that he and his old writing partner, Adam McKay, established the website for comedic content known as Funny or Die.
