Another record has been successfully beaten by Taylor Swift.
When it came to the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA), which took place on Thursday night, the singer known for “Fortnight” made history by being the most decorated BBMA winner with a total of 49 career prizes being awarded to him.
At the event, she was awarded a total of ten accolades, which included the following categories: Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Streaming Songs Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Artist.
When the event on Thursday rolled around, Swift and Drake were deadlocked with 39 victories each. The fact that Drake was able to take home three Billboard Awards brings his total number of victories to 42.
Swift expressed her gratitude to Billboard and her fans for being the ones that “care about our albums and come see us in concert” in a message that was pre-recorded.
In light of all that has transpired with the Eras Tour and ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ I would want to express my gratitude. It means the world to me that you guys have embraced the things that I’ve produced, and the fact that you’ve cared so much about my music is something that I am really grateful for,” she continued.
A statement made by Swift at the conclusion of her speech stated that “this is the nicest early birthday present” that she could have gotten. Swift’s 35th birthday is this coming Friday. After that, she said, “It’s exactly what I wanted.”
In particular throughout the past several years, the Grammy Award winner has been at the top of the charts on Billboard.
She shattered her own record earlier this year when she grabbed the top 14 slots on the Billboard Hot 100 after the release of “The Tortured Poets Department.” In 2022, she became the first artist to occupy the entire top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 with songs from the album “Midnights,” which was published in the same year.
The song “TTPD” remained at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart for a total of sixteen weeks, which is longer than any of her other recordings.
